President Droupadi Murmu hosts Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tarik at Rashtrapati Bhavan

At Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday, Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tarik was hosted by President Droupadi Murmu. President Droupadi Murmu received Haitham Bin Tarik at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, where he later met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other dignitaries. Omani dignitaries were also met by President Murmu, Vice President Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Modi. Present were Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, and Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs V Muraleedharan.

Earlier today, Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tarik met with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. The leaders underlined the deep-rooted ties between India and Oman founded on the history of friendship, people-to-people ties, and cultural connections. Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tarik also held a meeting with PM Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in Delhi. The two leaders discussed ways to deepen commerce, culture, defense, and innovation cooperation. Taking to X, PM Modi stated, “Had an excellent meeting with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman.” Reviewing the full range of bilateral ties, we discussed ways to deepen cooperation in commerce, culture, defense, innovation, and more.

PM Modi said at the joint delegation meeting, “Today we are adopting a new India-Oman joint vision, a partnership for the future. Concrete action points have been agreed upon in ten different areas in this joint vision. I am confident that the joint vision will give our partnership a new and modern shape. “I am happy that the discussion on the CEPA agreement is going on, and two rounds of discussion have been successfully completed, in which many important issues have been agreed upon. I hope we will soon be able to sign this agreement, which will add a new dimension to our economic cooperation,” PM Modi added. PM Modi said, Terming Sultan’s maiden State visit as ‘historic,’ “I am happy to welcome you to India. Today is a historic day in Oman-India relations. After 26 years, the Sultan of Oman has come to India on a state visit, and I have the opportunity to welcome you. On behalf of the people of India, I welcome you.”

Additionally, Oman Sultan went to Delhi’s National Gallery of Modern Art. On Saturday, the second day of his official visit to India, the Sultan of Oman was given a formal reception in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.At Rashtrapati Bhawan, PM Modi and President Droupadi Murmu welcomed the Sultan. The joint defense services’ Guard of Honour was examined by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. Upon Sultan’s arrival at the Delhi airport on December 15, Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs V Muraleedharan greeted him for his three-day State visit. Notably, there is a long-standing affinity between Oman and India that is based on shared cultural, historical, and economic links. Moreover, there has been human interaction between Oman and India for 5,000 years. The two nations’ diplomatic ties were first established in 1955, and in 2008 they were elevated to a strategic alliance.
